SEO and AI Search for SEBI Research Analysts: What You Can Publish
Your next client will probably search Google or ask ChatGPT before they ever message you. Most SEO advice would get a Research Analyst into trouble. Here is what works inside the rules.
Short answer: leave out testimonials, returns, stock tips and urgency. Publish who you are, how you research, clear fees and good education. Get the technical basics right so search engines and AI assistants can read your SEBI registration. Approve every page yourself and keep the record.
Your website is an advertisement
A Research Analyst website exists to win clients, so treat every page as advertising under the SEBI ad code. That one assumption changes the whole playbook. The tactics agencies use for a restaurant or a coaching class are the ones that read worst in an inspection.
What to leave out, and what to do instead
| Common tactic | The problem | Do this instead |
|---|---|---|
| Client testimonials and star ratings | Restricted by the ad code | Your credentials, NISM certification and years of practice |
| "Our calls returned 42%" | Performance claims are tightly restricted | How you research: universe, holding period, risk rules |
| "Top 5 stocks to buy this week" posts | A public recommendation outside your client process | Education: how to read a results filing, what a pledge means |
| "Only 10 seats left" and countdown timers | Reads as misleading urgency | Clear plan, fee and refund terms |
| "Better than [named RA]" pages | Comparisons with named peers are risky | Plain answers to "how do I choose a Research Analyst" |
Check one thing first: whether your supervisory body expects advertisement material to be approved before you publish, and whether it treats website pages that way. The rule is yours to follow, not your web developer's.
The pages that work
Finance is a topic where Google and AI assistants care a lot about who is speaking. Seven page types do most of the work for a Research Analyst:
Firm and analyst profile
Name, SEBI registration number, NISM certification, experience. In finance, search engines and AI assistants weigh who is behind the advice heavily.
How our research works
Coverage, frequency, holding period, delivery channels. Answers "what do I actually get" without a single return figure.
One page per service
Equity, F&O, long-term: each gets its own page with fees and terms, so each can match one search.
FAQ
Fees, refunds, cancellation, grievances. Short direct answers are the format AI assistants quote most.
Disclosures, investor charter and complaints data
Required anyway. Written well, they answer "is this firm genuine" searches better than any blog post.

City page, if you serve one city
"SEBI registered research analyst in Pune" is a real search. Only build it if you have a real presence there.
The technical basics
- Structured data: Organization and Person markup that states your firm name, analysts and SEBI registration number, so machines read it the same way every time.
- Pages that render without JavaScript: many AI crawlers do not run scripts. A site built as a single-page app can look empty to them.
- AI crawlers allowed: check robots.txt is not blocking GPTBot, PerplexityBot or Google's crawlers by accident.
- llms.txt: a short plain-text summary of who you are and where your disclosures live, for AI tools that fetch your site.
- Sitemap and Search Console: submit the sitemap and watch which searches already show your site.
How AI assistants decide who to name
When an investor asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a Research Analyst, the answer leans on what the web agrees about you. Three things help most:
- The same details everywhere. Firm name, registration number, address and website should match across your site, the SEBI register, your Google Business Profile and any directory listing.
- Specific answers. "Our fee is โนX a quarter, refundable pro-rata within 7 days" gets quoted. "Affordable plans for every investor" does not.
- Mentions on other sites. Interviews, guest articles and directory listings count. Never pay for a listing that ranks you as "best".
Approve everything, keep the record
Whoever writes your content, you are the one SEBI holds responsible. Read every page before it goes live and keep a dated copy of what you approved. In Aktai, the ad pre-check in your portal checks promotional copy against the Research Analyst ad code and records your approve or reject decision.
What to expect
- Week 1 to 2: technical fixes live, compliance pages rewritten.
- Month 1 to 3: your firm name search is clean and complete.
- Month 2 to 4: education articles start to show for long questions.
- Month 6 and later: broader searches and AI mentions, if the work continues.
The limit: nobody can promise a Google position or a mention in ChatGPT. Be wary of anyone who does.
If you would rather not do it yourself
Aktai now offers Search & AI Visibility as an add-on, in early access. We do the technical work, write two educational articles a month that you approve after the ad pre-check, and send a monthly report on where AI assistants name your firm. See how the add-on works.
Questions RAs ask
Is a Research Analyst website an advertisement under SEBI rules?
Treat it as one. Anything you publish to attract clients can fall under the advertisement code, and a website exists to attract clients. Write every page as if it will be read by your supervisory body, because it may be.
Can I show client reviews or Google reviews on my site?
Leave testimonials and reviews about your research off your website and your marketing. The ad code for Research Analysts restricts them, and a five-star quote about returns is exactly the kind of claim an inspector looks for.
Can I publish my past calls or returns to rank better?
No return numbers on public pages. Performance claims are tightly restricted, and SEBI has set up a separate past risk and return verification route for them. Publish your research process and coverage instead.
Does llms.txt help with ChatGPT?
It helps AI tools that fetch your site understand it quickly: who you are, your registration, what you cover, where the disclosures are. It is cheap to add. It does not on its own make an assistant recommend you.
How long does SEO take for a new Research Analyst website?
Technical fixes take days. Rankings and AI mentions usually take two to four months to start moving, and six months or more to settle. A firm name search ranks first; broad terms like "best research analyst" take longest.
