SEBI IA Fee-Limit Calculator (2026)
Short answer
Fixed fee plans for everyone in the family
One fee mode per family: AUA-based or fixed, not both. A free reference tool, not legal advice. Check current limits against the SEBI Investment Advisers Regulations and circulars.
How the family rule works
The fixed-fee limit follows the family, not the client record. Advise a couple, their adult son and the family HUF on fixed fees and all four plans count against one ₹1,51,000. A ₹8,000 monthly plan and a ₹4,000 monthly plan already come to ₹1,44,000 a year, leaving ₹7,000 for anything else. The AUA limit is a rate, so it is checked per plan: 2.5% is the ceiling whatever the portfolio size.
Aktai links clients into a family and runs the same check on every fee plan you create, so a plan that would push a household over the limit is rejected before an invoice goes out. See how the IA product enforces it.
Frequently asked questions
What are the SEBI fee limits for Investment Advisers?
One fee mode per family. AUA-based: up to 2.5% of assets under advice a year. Fixed: up to ₹1,51,000 per family a year. The limits apply to individual and HUF clients; accredited investors and non-individual clients agree fees bilaterally.
Is the fixed-fee limit per client or per family?
Per family. If you advise a husband and wife separately on fixed fees, the two plans together must stay within ₹1,51,000 a year. That is why the calculator lets you add a plan for each family member.
Can an Investment Adviser charge both AUA and fixed fees?
Not for the same family at the same time. Pick one mode per family. You can still use different modes for different families.
How much can an IA collect in advance?
Up to one year of fees, if the client agrees, under the SEBI circular of 2 April 2025. The older rule allowed two quarters. If the engagement ends early, the fee for the unexpired period is refunded.
Is this calculator official?
No. It is a free reference tool from Aktai, not from SEBI, and not legal advice. Check the current SEBI Investment Advisers Regulations and circulars before you set fees.
